Are Getting Married!
Groom & Bride
Kurt
Well… sometimes you just run into that special someone when you’re not looking, or when you least expect it. Which evidently is what can happen when you’re out walking two Danes and minding your own business, enjoying a beautiful Colorado afternoon during a pandemic.
Imagine for a moment if you would, you're traveling through another neighborhood - a neighborhood not only of sight and sound, but of mind. A journey into the wondrous land of Applewood, Colorado. Next stop, the Match Making Zone. The year is 2020, a man by the name of Kurt is on a daily mid-July walk with his 12 year old, 150lb Great Dane named Boomer, enjoying the Colorado summer, minding his business, when a mutual neighborhood friend of 7 years and fellow dog walker herself, “casually” introduces Kurt and Boomer to a very attractive Italian woman, who also was a mutual friend of this person – Coincidence??? An introduction which unbeknownst to all would forever change the course of the lives of Kurt & Annette, as they knew it. Kurt wasn’t in the hunt to be in a relationship, as he was quite content being a single German guy, caring for his two Great Danes Boomer and Dutch - a 7 year old, 120lbs Blue, but yet… here they were, under the veil of what would appear as an innocuous Colorado summer afternoon, with a mutual friend who had other devices in the works…. as she also moonlights behind the scenes as an intermediary marriage broker to unsuspecting travelers.
Fast forward to the present. After meeting and dating this warm and lovely woman for over two years, and seeing that she was still by my side, not putting on her running shoes to run in the opposite direction, I decided to ask her on Dec 20th if she wanted to get married, her repeated response at first was a suspicious “are you serious”, followed by an emphatic, heartfelt “yes”!
Annette
Years ago, I saw a man walk past my home with not one but TWO Great Danes. I thought to myself “Who is THAT ???” I should meet him, but how? Run out onto the front lawn to say ‘hi’? Too weird. Fast forward to summer 2020 . . a neighbor introduces us in the middle of the street. I now know his name and we continue running into each other. Kurt comes to my home November 23, 2020, a block away from his, to fix a furnace that quit producing heat. The culprit turned out to be an excess of dog hair clogging the filter. With Kurt’s keen eye and passion for all things HVAC, I soon had a working furnace and start of a new relationship. That remained our anniversary until he proposed! On December 20, 2022 we agreed to plunge into the next phase of our lives together. And having survived the various relationship tests, namely a whirlwind cross-country trip in a seriously temperamental, rental RV, it seemed the next logical step. Here we are, sharing our bios and soon our vows . . . as I watched Kurt crouch next to my furnace, peering over his mask that November afternoon, I felt a strong connection and hoped it led somewhere really great-it did!
